Welcome to the website of the Cincinnati Yale Club, the oldest Yale alumni association in the country (founded in 1864). The CYC has over 150 active members representing all classes of undergraduate and graduate degrees. The club sponsors many social and enriching events during the year as well as jointly sponsors events with other Ivy League alumni groups.
The purpose of the club is to:
- promote friendship and continued learning among local Yale alumni;
- enhance ties between Yale and its local alumni;
- help Yale attract, evaluate, matriculate, and support highly qualified applicants from local secondary schools; and
- promote and enhance the reputation of Yale within the Greater Cincinnati community.
The Cincinnati Yale Club celebrated its 150 Anniversary with special guest Peter Salovey, President of Yale University, in September 2014.

The Cincinnati Yale Club is here to foster friendships and networking among recent, not so recent, and future students at Yale University.
To that end, CYC sponsors numerous events each year. We have social events, such as the annual gathering for the Harvard-Yale Football Game. We have family events, such as the Winter Ice Skating party. We have events for prospective students, newly admitted students, and current students, such as the Holiday Party and the Summer Send-Off. We have professional events, such as the Women’s Quarterly. We have literary events, in the form of talks by Yale authors. We have civic events, such as State of the City. We have an Annual Dinner each spring, when we invite a member of the Yale faculty or administration to come visit us in Cincinnati.
TO KEEP THIS UP, WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The Board of Directors has estimated $5,000 as the total cost of sponsoring more than a dozen of this year’s events, from the Summer Sendoff last August to the Annual Dinner and State of the City lunch next spring. If 100 people were to pitch in $50 (the traditional level for dues payers), we would be in great shape. The CYC has 501(c)(3) status as a non-profit, so any amount you can contribute is tax deductible.
Great News! The Club’s 501(c)(3) application has been approved. One of the primary benefits of being tax-exempt under IRC Section 501(c)(3) is the ability to accept contributions and donations that are tax-deductible to the donor (for amounts in excess of the value of the goods or services received, e.g., the cost of a dinner). Additional benefits include, but are not limited to:
* Ability to apply for
* exemption from state corporate income taxes (in addition to federal);
* exemption from state sales and property taxes;
* grants and other public or private allocations available only to IRS-recognized, 501(c)(3) organizations; and
* Eligibility for discounts on US Postal bulk-mail rates and other services.
Historically, the CYC has relied on membership fees (and a few generous, event-specific sponsorship donations) to fund ongoing operations in order to fulfill our mission statement of providing a medium through which Yale alumni can contribute to both the university and the local community. As with many non-profit entities, the CYC’s endeavors have been dampened by budgetary constraints. Now that our members and patrons have the ability to make tax-deductible donations to the CYC, we will be able to expand the purview of our efforts.
This is where you come in. I urge you to find the earmark in your own budget to make a donation to the CYC this year and to include the CYC in your ongoing charitable plans. To that end, donations can sent to:

For donations in excess of $250, the Club will mail or email you an acknowledgment of receipt.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and commitment to the Cincinnati Yale Club.
